“Polyphenols as new adipose tissue browning agents”. PhD student: Irene Pomares Bri. Directors: María Herranz López y Vicente Micol. This thesis project consists of the search for plant natural extracts or polyphenol compounds with the capability of regulating the energetic metabolism and the plasticity of the adipose tissue changing the phenotype from white to beige (browning) to face obesity and metabolic syndrome. In order to do that, we will analyze the effects of the extracts and compounds using murine and human adipocyte cell models. In addition, we will validate the best candidates in overweight and obese humans with the aim of designing a nutraceutical product with thermogenic and anti lipogenic effect.
